His grandfather, Sardar Teja Singh Samundri, was a highly respected individual known for his contributions to Gurdwara Sudhar Movement before Independence. His father, Bishan Singh Samundri, held the prestigious position of Vice-Chancellor at Guru Nanak Dev University.
Their exemplary leadership and dedication to education have greatly influenced Taranjit Singh Sandhu, inspiring him to uphold their legacy of excellence and service in his own endeavours.

He is grandson of Sardar Teja Singh Samundri and son of Bishan Singh Samundri, founder Vice-Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, and Jagjit Kaur Sandhu, an academician.
